Ring-necked Duck

The Ring‑necked Duck is a medium‑sized diving duck (~18 inches long) with a glossy black back, slate‑gray body, and a distinctive white ring on the bill plus a chestnut neck ring. It inhabits freshwater ponds and lakes, migrates seasonally between boreal Canada and the southern U.S./Central America, and feeds on aquatic insects, plants, and seeds.
