The Greater Yellowlegs is a large shorebird with long, bright yellow legs. It has a slim, straight bill, mottled gray-brown body, and a white belly. It is an active forager often seen running or hopping in shallow water while feeding. It is a long-distance migrant, breeding in the boreal forest and wintering along the coasts of North and South America. It primarily consumes insects but can also eat small fish and crustaceans.
