Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron is a large wading bird about 24 inches tall with a long, curved neck, pointed yellow‑orange beak, and grey‑blue feathers; its wingspan can reach up to 6 feet. It is a solitary predator that hunts by standing motionless on water’s edge, feeding on fish, amphibians, shrimp, crabs, rodents, small mammals, and occasionally other birds.
